Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the snow day calculator uses, where it goes, and what is never collected.
Key points
- No accounts or sign-ups, and no personal details requested
- No cookies, and nothing stored in your browser
- No analytics, advertising or tracking tools
- Your search goes to Open-Meteo only to get the forecast
- Fonts, images and code all come from this website
- No information is sold
1. Information we don’t collect
The calculator never asks for your name, email address, age or exact address. There are no accounts, cookies or saved history, and nothing is kept in your browser’s storage. The site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and no information is sold.
2. What stays on your device
- What you type in the search box and your “Sharpen your prediction” answers exist only in the open page. They’re forgotten when you close or reload it.
- The share card is drawn on your own device. It goes only where you choose to send it.
- “Copy text” puts a short message on your own clipboard and nowhere else.
3. Third-party services
The page’s fonts, images and code all load from this website itself. To get the weather, it connects to one outside service, and one link opens another. Like any website, each of them can see your IP address (your connection’s internet address) and basic browser details.
- Open-Meteo (weather data): when you search, your browser sends the city part of your search (the words before any comma) to Open-Meteo’s place search. It then sends the found place’s map coordinates to Open-Meteo’s weather forecast. See Open-Meteo’s terms and privacy policy.
- Google Search: only if you tap “Is my school closed?”. A new tab opens a Google search for school closings in the place you found. Google’s own privacy policy applies in that tab.
4. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). Like almost every web host, Cloudflare may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address, the page requested, your browser type and the time, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don’t use those logs to identify you. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
5. Children’s privacy
Many visitors are students. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and the calculator never asks for a name, email, age or exact address. If you believe a child has sent us personal information (for example by email), contact us and we will delete it.
6. Changes to this policy
If we change how the site works in a way that affects your privacy (for example, adding analytics or ads), we will update this page first and change the effective date at the top.
